I am thinking about ditching Windows for Ubuntu Linux. Pro's and Con's??? Basically I use my computer for watching movies/porn and websurfing and writing. Whats good and whats bad? |

The question you should be asking yourself is why switch? If you can come up with a compelling answer then worry about all potential problems.
Personally I can't see any reason to switch. |

Well I have a bootleg copy of Windows and thus I can't update it nor can I get an anti-virus software that works to clear off the porn bugs, grrrr!
SO I am thinking that going to Linux will get me way from paying evil microsoft its 200,000W. Thats my only real reason for thinking about changing. |

Ubuntu will work fine for the purposes you listed above. For movies, use VideoLan and for browsing the web, you can use any number of open source browsers with Linux versions. Firefox should be just fine for your needs.
Gaming is another issue. Linux isn't great for gaming and therefore, if you plan on gaming, Ubuntu won't be the best option for you. |
