Two upsets: The hated U.S. side got nicked by Germany by a score of 2-1 in overtime and the Belarussians beat the always strong Fins by a tally of 4-3.

No surprise, really, about the Germans defeating the Yanks: The Yanks have a rather mediocre history in this and other ice hockey tourneys even though they've put together mostly strong teams over the years. With Canada up next for the U.S., they'll likely rely on their defence and hope for the odd chance that they'll get a lucky break against the Great White North, eh.

T.S.N.'s story relates that the goaltender for the German team played well and that the Fins and the Yanks outplayed their opponents.

The U.S. will lose their next two games or win one of them.

Canada will get the bronze this year.

Who's gonna beat them? We allowed 6 goals in 6 games last year--Goaltending isn't as strong, but the D-Men are sick!

The Year of the Upset is Here!

By the way, how good are the U.S. blueliners? Besides Lee, Skille, Johnson, and Johnson, are the U.S. any good on 'D?'

Phil Kessel, who made the predictable error of jumping into the N.H.L., is, like nearly all of the great junior-aged Yanks of past lore, not available. So, who do the Americans have up front?

Tell it like it is, Canuck.
