I know it may be a long shot but I have to try. Is anyone heard of Laphroaig wiskey? If you have anywhere in Korea that might carry it?
Thanks. Mr. Green

No, it's "whisky".

The 'e' is optional, depending on not important things like sides of oceans, but the 'h' is vital.

i've not seen laphroaig, but there are 'better' liquor stores who will sell you a similar-quality single malt for about 70 bucks.

i've seen lagavulin here, which tastes quite close to laphroaig, in my humble opinion. it's that sea salt peat...

I saw a bottle of 10 and 15 year old (I think, didn't pay too much attention, I was too busy looking at cheeses) at Shinsegae department store, in the basement level food area. It's out the opposite exit from Namdaemun of Hoehyeon station. You can't miss it. Enjoy a drink for me, would ya?

I think it should be "sea," as in Irish Sea. The Irish spell it "whiskey" and the Scots, "whisky."
Of course, in America we spell it "bourbon."

Only if it's produced in certain areas of Kentucky.

Kind of like champange in that regard. All bourbon is whisky, but not all whisky is bourbon.

Isn't it called Bourbon partly because of where it's produced, but also because of the method? I read that Bourbon was aged in charcoal, or at least filtered through charcoal while Scotch is filtered through peat. Both are whiskeys, but they are different from each other in production and taste. Or at least they taste differently to me.

scotch should be single malt and only distilled once...methinks, where as most irish whiskeys are blended and distilled more than once. eg Jameson is triple distilled.
The word Whiskey/ Whisky comes from Irish/Scottish Gaelic- "Uisce beatha (ishka baha)" or water of life.

and then there is soju- which in innuit means malaria ridden mosquito testicle juice...

Scotch can be blended too. Blended Scotch whiskey is quite popular in England.

I have looked for this brand in duty free here and in the narita ariport on layovers. It is a fav of my 77 year old drinking buddy back home. No luck so far in 4 years of duty free shopping in Korea. You can buy kimchee chocolates, but not the good alcohol.
