AIDS Is a Prime Cause for Deporting Foreigners
Over three out of five foreigners deported from South Korea for medical reasons were forced to leave after testing positive for HIV, which causes AIDS, a government report showed on Saturday. A total of 143 foreigners were deported between 2003 and the end of June this year after being found to have contracted an infectious disease, according to the report by the Ministry of Justice.

[Props to Real Reality]
AIDS testing:
1. Itaewom, UNAIDS clinic near the army base. It is free and and totally private they speak English and the results take 3 days.
2. Jongno-sam Ga. for gay men, although all men can go, its called iShap and its free but they don't speak English so you need a K to go with you. Its also completly confidential and the results take 20 minutes.
[props to some other poster, I forget who, sorry]
Also, the doctors at Severence Hospital's International Clinic speak fluent English. |

| The search function on this site isn't great, but it should be able to dig up a few good links for you. |

Ah yes. I just remembered.
As I posted on a couple other threads, I recently ran into a doctor who actually refused to do the STD tests I asked for, and did two other tests instead. He had a glance and assured me that everything was fine, without asking for any information about my lifestyle, marital status, sexual history, etc.
I mention this for the sake of the gals, since you might have to insist on tests that "Korean women don't ask for" (according to this doctor.)
I also mention this for the sake of the guys, in light of the scarcity of condom use and the rampant prostitution industry. Your lady-friend may not be a prostitute, but chances are that her former boyfriends have visited them, and she's understandably reluctant to ask her doctor for a clean bill of health. Proceed with caution. |
