Perhaps the the most earth-shattering story, but maybe it's time for something a little lighter, anyway:

Family kicked off plane...

Quote:
AirTran Airways on Tuesday defended its decision to remove a Massachusetts couple from a flight after their crying 3-year-old daughter refused to take her seat before takeoff.

AirTran officials said they followed Federal Aviation Administration rules that children age 2 and above must have their own seat and be wearing a seat belt upon takeoff.

The flight was already delayed 15 minutes and in fairness to the other 112 passengers on the plane, the crew made an operational decision to remove the family," AirTran spokeswoman Judy Graham-Weaver said.

Julie and Gerry Kulesza, who were headed home to Boston on Jan. 14 from Fort Myers, said they just needed a little more time to calm their daughter, Elly...

The Orlando-based carrier reimbursed the family $595.80, the cost of the three tickets, and the Kuleszas flew home the next day.

They also were offered three roundtrip tickets anywhere the airline flies, Graham-Weaver said.

Rolling Eyes
They should have been charged a couple thousand dollars for delaying the flight. Now we're going to see the moochers of America bring their misbehaving kids onto airplanes so that they can get kicked off and get free tickets.

"Remember, Junior, to throw a fit on cue. I'll give you the signal. Then, you and I will be able to go to Disneyland". I don't think tons of people would try to exploit this but someone may try and if found out could be in big trouble.

My wife and I had four kids (in six years) and decided early on to run a "tight ship". We had lots of tantrums, four to be exact.

The most spectacular was my oldest. He threw a tantrum at the dinner table with his grandparents there. I threw a jug of ice water in his face. Not more tantrums from him.

I wonder whatever happened to discipline?

Yes the cold water in the face thing works great, you have to take the ice cubes out first though.

I'd like to know why these folks had to be asked to remove the child from this situation. Why is it that everyone has to be made uncomfortable to satisfy this childish behavior.

I usually expect a child to cry for few minutes on an airplane during ascent and descent because of air pressure on the ear canals, I also expect the parents to be suckling (natural or bottle) the infants during these stages of the flight, these are reasonable expectations.

The airline went way out of their way to satisfy these parents so it is obvious where the child gets the selfish behavior from

The icecubes stayed in. Only one fell in the gravy tureen. Was my mother in law pissed.
