You know how the Bundang line is supposed to go all the way to the green line station Seolleung. Is that finished?

Is a connection from the Bundang line to the Orange line a faster way to central Seoul?

i'm about to move to Bundang and was told by my school that the quickest way to get to Central Seoul is by bus (40 mins).

When I left Bundang at the end of April, the line only went to Suseo. I can't imagine they've come close to finishing it by now.

Your best bet for getting from Bundang to Seoul is the bus. The 1005-1 goes to Gangnam and then on to Gwanghamun, and the 9000 goes from Bundang to Gwanghamun.

Yes, the subway goes all the way through Bundang to Ori (Yellow line), but the buses are still faster. Check this link to see the map:

doesnt go all the way through dogok and seollung yet. and stills a ways of i am lead to believe, but when it does, it will certainly open things up a little.

Am I wrong? Even when that litte extension from Suseo to Sollung opens you'll still have to get off and transfer trains at Suseo? If so, then it's not going to make much difference for anyone except people living in Daichi 2 & 3 dongs and Gaepo dong...

Within the next 3-4 years supposedly the Bundang subway line will extend further past Ori. They will stick in a Suji/Jukcheon stop, Shingal stop and then run it all the way to Yong-Tong in Suwon.
But that's a long way off yet...

Buses are way faster and run later than the subway.

Also, there are multiple buses that go to the same place and some are much faster than others because of the route they take. Someone recommended taking the 1005-1, don't bother. This is the slowest friggin bus into Gangnam there is.

The fastest bus into Gangnam is the 6006 or the 2002 but to get the 6006 you have to be at a special stop. (PM me when you get to Bundang and I'll tell you where it is, should be close to where you're living).

To central Seoul the fastest bus is the 9000. The 9000 will get you from central Bundang to Itaewon (Hannam-dong) in 20 minutes or Myeongdong/City Hall in 30 if you take it after 7pm or on weekends.

Only time to use the subway is if you want to go to Jamshil (Lotte World), takes 20 minutes if you switch onto the pink line at Bokcheong.

If you take the subway, it will take you over two hours to get from Bundang to say Hongdae and about 1:20 to get to Gangnam.

The express buses the larger ones with 4 digit #'s, run till at least midnight and start again at 5:30. To save cab fare I would often go party in Itaewon and take the 5:30 bus home.. clubs don't close till 7am anyway.

With regards to the Bundang line, little sticky labels have gone up on all the subway maps showing the names of the new stations, so I'm guessing they could be open now.

Anyone tried it?
I still reckon getting the bus would be a lot faster right enough...

it opened septmeber 1st.. and yes it runs direct to sulleong non transfer.
it will be faster in peek hours.. the bus 9000 or 6006 are fasdt because it goes on the freeway.. buses like the 1005-1 or the 2002 go through yangjea so they take longer..

6006 goes on the exact same route as the 2002 and 2002-1

It only deviates at the very end of the route (where I live), as the 2002 and 2002-1 terminate at Gangnam University near Yong-in, and the 6006 terminates near the Korean Folk Village in Shingal.

As for buses,

The 6006 and 2002 are great for getting to Gangnam. 30 mins from Bundang in normal traffic. 20 mins in light traffic.

The 9000 goes all the way to Gwanawghmun.

New Bundang Subway to Be Complete by 2009

The construction of a new subway line to connect Yangjae, southern Seoul, to Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, will begin next year for completion in 2009.

The Ministry of Construction and Transportation made an official announcement on Wednesday (Aug. 13) to invite private contractors to take on the 1.5-trillion-won ($1.25 billion) construction project to build a new subway line from Yangjae to Bundang.

The new subway line will also pass through the Pangyo area, and merge with the current Bundang-subway line at Cheongja station in Bundang.

In line with building a new subway line to better the traffic conditions in the southern part of the Seoul metropolitan area ahead of completion of a new satellite city in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, the ministry also decided to build a new road connecting Yongin with Yangjae.

The construction of the road, which will cost 810 billion won, will also begin next year for completion in 2007.

I rode it this past weekend. I was taking a loooong train ride (Ansan - Bundang) and was glad it was now open. I'm happy to see my earlier prediction of the timetable was off. Brand new trains (still only 6 cars) both times I rode it and quite comfy.

It was nice to get on in Seollung and have a guaranteed seat all the way to Ori. Nothing worse than standing up on the Green line, then the Orange line on the way to Suseo. I doubt I'll be riding it that much though, since I'm in a different part of the area now. Would've been great while I was still in Bundang. I just need to figure out the Ansan - Suwon - Bundang bus hops now.
