Where the ?@#$ did these little critters come from. I haven't seen a mosquito in a month, then I find two in my apartment.

OMG, I was actually BEGGING for the cold of winter just to kill these mofos. These are easily the most persistent mosquitos I've ever come into contact with. Basically, if you're in an area with lots of standing water (like around restaruants, the bottom of a hill, etc), you're gonna get em.

I saw one today. In the school broom cupboard.

They're able to survive better nowadays because people provide them with warm buildings to hibernate in...

I believe it's the more open plumbing system here.

killed one yesterday in a pc room. they are like the Koreans, don't mind the cold it seems.

Yup. They will go to a warm apartment floor in the building and hatch with whatever blood they collected. Someone tonight will undoubetedly get bit when it escapes from the bathroom drain.
