An interesting but slow way to get from Korea to SE Asia cheaply is to do a flight+train combo.
First, you find a cheap fare to northern China:
http://www.asiana.co.kr/english/
Click on "Hot Sale"
218,000 Qingdao
218,000 Weihai
237,000 Yantai
Then catch a Chinese train from there to SE Asia by land. Usually via Vietnam/Ho Chi Minh.
Onward connections by road and rail from there to Thailand, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia. |

are they return fares?
if they're one way flights they aren't that cheap.
i paid closer to 120,000 for qingdao one way. |

| They are return fares, excluding tax. Tax is = to roughly 20%. So still under 300,000 won for sure. |

Don't forget that you'd need an extra visa for China, which is maybe another $60 or so? (for US passports)
And how much would a round trip train ticket cost?
I'm also kind of interested since I'm planning on going to Vietnam in February... |

No doubt there are probably even cheaper ways to buy these items. |
