Can anyone offer us some good advice for teaching WE ARE to a group of fairly older kids, about 10 to thirteen? The usual "We are hippopotomuses! and We are the World" is hard to do with them. They get bored easily and can be pretty rowdy. Lots of boys, you get the drift. Last time I used nationality, saying I am american then got them to say We are Korean! but still couldn't hold them very long.
Any creative ideas out there for me?
Thanks! |

My boys love aliens, monsters and combining several animals into one.
Get them to draw a picture of two or more aliens from a planet of their choice. You could even have them make it in comic book form. Stipulate that they have to go to Earth and announce "we are so and so from blah blah." Kids love animation here so get them to do their own English versions.
Or,, you could exploit their stereotype and play a game called "who are we?" You say, fattest people on Earth and they respond: we are Americans. Greatest people on Earth and they respond: We are Koreans. Thieves who stole land from above North Korea and they say: we are Chinese. Greatest soccer players on Earth and they respond: We are Brazilians or Italians.
You could also do animals. We are fattest animals on Earth. We are the slowest animals on land. We are the biggest animals in the sea.
Hope this helps |
