Hmm. In this case, do you not agree that it would put an end to an era in the minds of Iraqis. I mean it will help them wrap up the past. Take an emotional weight off them.
How do you think it will be a mistake? |

He probably gets off on calling into doubt the decisions of people better than him.
After all doubt is cheap. Anybody can do it. And it makes you look more important. There's the catch. |

...it is a mistake to execute him.
he should have been tried at the Hague.
the Iraqi court does not follow the rule of law. this will come back to haunt the current Iraqi government in the future.
one of the principles of "rule of law" is that no law can be retroactively applied. since the formation of the new Iraq, and the introduction of a new constitution, trying Saddam for crimes commited against the "former" Iraq violates this basic tenet.
he deserves to die? maybe... but it should have been an international court that made the decision... |

Bull Bondrock. People at the Nuremburg trials were tried and executed according to laws created after the World War, butt he world has yet to regret it. |

true, and the Nuremburg trials have been widely criticised for that reason.
but this is post-Nuremburg.
The international court at the Hague was created for situations like Saddam. |

hmm....Is "criticised" the word you're looking for?
i think you'd be hard pressed to find a pleb who has that problem with the Nuremburg trials. |

Are you not unfairly judging/recolonizing the Iraqi authorities? It seems to me that whether Saddam deserves to die or whether "they" should execute him or not is their business. |
