Any way if any of you read me other thread of Idtios at the Gym = Broken Nose. I had my nose busted by hyperactive Korean.. Well it looks like Karma is a biotch.. Another guy decided to use the gloves I had my nose broken with.. They are Heavy bag gloves with the padding almost gone. Both me and the Master(told him he could break his hands) said slow/no power, I had my nose broken with those gloves. I agreed because we were not sparring and we would be punching lightly and mostly practicing counters which are just more like play. Anywho I was ready this time, the rules were clear I know what happened to me last time, I knew how to be ready.

I box a lot I control my speed and power very well. Well this guy hasn't done anything in six month.. I have worked hard on my defence for the past couple weeks.

We were throwing some russian left counters and this time I covered up properly because I knew I could get sucker punched like last time. I covered up my side of my face leaned forwardwith my head down to avoid his jab.. The next thing I heard is a loud crack and slight thump on the back of my head(top). I threw my counter landed (no power ofcourse) and I came up and all I saw was the guy hoping on two feet holding his hand saying I have stone head. These gloves are so worn out its like punching bareknuckles.

Cuting the long story short the master laughed I asked if he was ok. We practiced a little more but the pain got to him. He took of his gloves off and his hand was swollen and turning slightly purple.
Next day he shows up with a cast on his hand. Master just gave him shit for not listening. I said sorry but he said it was his own dumb ass fault(well not exactly in those words).

Moral of the story is: Don't be a douche, when people say no power/slow thats exactly what it means. Don't use old gloves, and use hand wraps to protect your hands and wrists..

I guess Karma does exist.

I guess the skull is a stronger bone than those flimsy little hand-bones! Your gym sounds like quite the battleground.

It really isn't.. There are some very good fighter/athletes there but there is also a tonne of the Half assed effort Korean douche bags. They think they are king shiet of turd island but nothing more then fart the messanger. All they think is he lets hit the foreigner. Show the Korea POWAH. Unfortunatly there is more Douche bags then decent people in the gym.. I am not going to spar until I get some better sparing gloves.

What are you doing back in the ring so quickly after getting your nose broken? I forget how long you should wait, but it must be longer than a week.

Gloves save your opponents head, wraps save your hands. Learning to wrap your hands well is an invaluable skill for any fighter, but especially if you are a power puncher or have slight hands. Your sparring partner was nuts if he was at it without wraps.

I don't want to sound like I'm denigrating your training, but it sounds a little like amatuer hour at your gym. If I feel like I'm not getting good instruction or a gym isn't a good environment, I leave. It's not worth it. Learning bad habits is worse than not training at all, IMO.

Where do you box? What part of Seoul? I was hoping to start it for exercise and experience but had no idea they had something that wasn't taekwondo, hapkido, kendo, or - if lucky - kick boxing.

Its not bad.. I'm sure there is better but Changwon is small I don't have much of a choice. I usually have the Master train me. Its a poorer gym but the master is really good. The guy has 39 Pro fight under his belt, he is an amzingly good striker. Oh well I am using this more of getting into shape then anything else..

It sounds like no one in your gym knows what they're doing...even the master.
What's the deal? Lose weight or we break your bones?

My first post sounded a little arrogant. I apologize.

If you're just there for fitness then the gym is probably fine. I suggest learning how to wrap your hands well, if you don't already, and do it all the time. Even just hitting the bags or the mitts. My old coach used to say that hitting something with your fist was like using a Stradivarius violin as a club.

Good luck.

Its the attitude of the Koreans that is the problem. Master is really good I really enjoy training with him. He is very good, he spends more time with me then anyone else. I have a problem with motivation and I like people telling me what to do..

I do know how wrap my hands I use right gloves, I always use a mouth guard when sparring. I am not an idiot. Its just the way Koreans do shit is bizzare. Any one that goes to a Korean gym will testify that Koreans are not interested in geting fit they are there more for the appearance sakes.

Maybe thats why there is only like 3 guys not including me that are serious and are rather skilled in the sport.

If you go to a Korean gym you see guys doing stupid weights or running constantly or siting with a towel over their head smoking/reading news paperor just sitting in a sauna.. We got guys admiring them selves in the mirror, poping zits, picking scabs, etc.. I have seen gyms in Korea and its all half assed effort, then they are supprised that I can shed 2 kilos in two weeks. They even try to give me diet tips and shit, like tomato diet and crap like that. I just smile and nod and do my own thing.
