One of my roles at my school in Thailand is to advertise positions and filter through the dross that comes in.
If we are happy to take on a none-native speaker we will say so. Other wise it clearly states what country you be from US,UK,OZetc
Every time I have to do it my inbox is full of applications from Filipnos (as), Nigerians, Indians etc.
A large majority of these are riddled with mistakes, contradictions and are just generally crap.
This is one of the joys of working in a school in Thailand.
So. For the people who review resumes in Korea. What is the qulaity level like taking into account that none-native speakers can't apply. |

I hire for three branches, and I use recruiters to filter through that. I tried on occation to post messages, but in the end, the hassle of filtering what you are mentioning was by far worse, and thus not worth it.
For every position I hire for, I will generally look at 10 resumes, and have interviews with 3 or 4. The resumes are decent, but most are fresh out of University, so very little experience on them. That said though, this past year I have been really lucky, and have a lot of teachers with many years experience. I attribute that to the fact that I have hired friends of employees.
I can only imagine your situation, and I feel for you. |

Thailand pays third world wages for ESL teachers so why are you surprised your inbox is filled with third world applicants? |

I've hung out in the office when my school is looking through applicants and it's pretty damn funny. The resumes are usually alright but the photos are brutal!
Girl in skin coloured tank top trying to look naked and seductive (yeah that's the imagine you want coming here with basically no rights!)
Also saw lots of photos where the guy is at the bar with attractive women all around him....haha.
You'd think it's common sense! Just comb your hair, put on some decent clothes and try to look friendly....but most applicants don't even do that. |

| I do love the resume photos that are taken in bars or beside their PAYG lady friends. |

I certainly read the ones I get, but at the moment no one seems interested. |

| I worked in a small office in Florida where you could hear every word said. the office manager would do initial phone interviews. some were very quick. Once the phone hung up she would mumble under her breath and laugh - another black named Shawanda or Tamicia - they would not hire blacks - latinos and it wasn't kept a secret. |
