yayhoo!
today we had a staff meeting and i found out that my school is closing. not closing exactly, but its contract with the college it's based out of will be cut short. a new investor will be taking over, and the location will be changing. because my contract is with the college, this means that at the end of this term, end of february, i will be free! of course, i can go over to the new school, i can stay within the larger franchise, or i can get a new job.
after teaching adults in canada for 5 years, i really thought that i wouldn't mind teaching kids, a change would be good, right? well, i learned something about myself pretty damn quickly. i love to play with kids, but i hate to teach them. my school isn't a bad school at all, i'm pretty happy there overall, and i love my adult classes, but i gotta get away from the kids.
because they're breaking the contract, full severance will be paid, letters of release given, and airfare home will be provided, if desired. pretty sweet if you ask me. on top of that, the timing is pretty good with the academic year starting in march.
so i'm job hunting. adults would be ideal (uni would be best), but i think i could handle kids in a public school setting, i like to think that would be more academic.
ah...it's a celebratory day!
cheers, rss Cool
