Have a day off tomorrow so I'm interested in checking out the Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon. Tried looking for info on how to get there from the Suwon subway station but couldn't find anything relevant. If anybody can help me out with directions from the subway stop it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

i have been there a few times, had some friends come from the states to visit and took there there, it is worth the visit.
i always came with like 4 people, so we just took a taxi, cant remember how much it was, and we were coming from the bus terminal, but it was less than 10,000 ( i think) from the bus terminal.
sorry, that is all the use i can be... |

You can take a bus from the station to Paldalmun, where you can start the walk or get the little dragon train-thing. There are many bus numbers that go to Paldalmun, such as 13 and 11, but actually the Tourist Info office which is next to Suwon station is very knowledgable and helpful, so I suggest you head there first. |

I used to live not far from it. Try this: get off at Hwaseo Station, not Suwon, and take a taxi from there. Taxis are a little cheaper in Suwon so it will be around 2000 won.
Well you probably missed it anyway. |

Did you visit? How was it? How about an update to your adventure in Suwon?
I personally find the fortress a wonderful place after World Heritage Foundation got its hands on the place. Wonderful improvements over the last few years. It is nice at night too, all brightened up with flood lights. Makes a nice backdrop to the city. |

Yup, checked it out yesterday. I live in Ilsan so it took about 2 hours by train/subway to get there. The tourist information office next to Suwon station was extremely helpful and taking the bus there was a simple and straight forward affair. The weather was pretty decent for this time of the year and we walked the entire 5.74km path along the wall taking lots of pictures on the way. Also went to Hwaseong Haenggung. Entrance fees to both places were very reasonable (1000 won for the fortress and 1500 won for Hwaseong Haenggung). I highly recommend visiting this place to everybody. |
