Just got to Korea and have done my share of Colorado, California and Utah skiing and want to know anyone's thoughts on great slopes to check out here also. My understanding is that most of the skiing is East of Seoul about 3 hours and it gets very cold so this will not be spring skiing conditions by any means. Any insights, tips or suggestions are appreciated. Also names of the best resorts and ways to get deals on lift tickets, lodging (coupons, associations, etc.) thanks.

I did a google search a while back for "ski, korea" and "snowboard, korea" and found a comprehensive site with all the resort info. Sorry, I don't have the link right now.

Prices tend to be around 40,000 per day, but they also have all night skiing at some places.

It's gonna be crowded, esp. on the weekends, so be ready for some bumping.

Call/search the Seoul Help Center.

Or, dial 1330 on your phone for the KNTO.

I went to Kangchon (nearest major town is Choonchon) and it's too icy to be considered perfect, but it's adequate for a quick fix and satisfying skiing lust. Dreadfully cold at nights though, even during the Korean winter's mild spells. It's very mild in Seoul right now, but at night there it's very cold indeed, so it'd be almost impossible to enjoy one's self if skiing during the cold spells. Wait for the next cold spell to end and then go during the subsequent mild spell.

Too busy as well, given the hols.

Dunno prices sadly.

(edit for ridiculous typo)

I just got back from Yongpyeong and it was pretty decent. As usual, the beginner hills are insanely busy during the day but more advanced slopes were okay. I did some night skiing and that was good. It wasn't too cold and there were no lines at all.

Not all the runs were open as I don't think they received snow in a while. They're supposed to get some snow this week so the conditions should improve.

Here's a website with all the resorts in Korea:

Skiing in Korea is a nightmare if you go on a weekend. A silly, dangerous nightmare.

I completely agree. with mack. Went snowboarding this weekend and it was so icy and crowded. Plus the snow is all fake snow so when you fall man it hurts. And you fall alot because there are a tonne of people on the slope clipping your board every 5 meters!

Snowboarders piss me off to the max.

Has anyone ever seen a snowboarder who can go longer than 5 seconds without falling on their arse? Makes such a dreadful scraping noise as they fall too - loud, scary, sounds as though one of the *beep*-ers is gonna SMASH into you! With bodies going down all over the place, skiing in Korea is WAR! And yes - some of those slopes need some more snow.

It's difficult to go any other time of course, but weekends and holidays are a little too busy, that's correct.

You are talking about Korean snowboarders, aren't you? If not, then "Hello, my name if Bibbity, and I'm a snowboarder. I'm gonna go over here now and hit this jump. Wanna grab a beer later?"

You have to dial the area code if it's a cell phone and you have to call during the day to get a local person.

On Jan. 1 they had a singles line at the gondola and new gold lift never has a line.

Here's my blog on it:
