|
|
| What is an acceptible salary for a first time teacher at CDI? I took a position that will pay 2.3/month. Is that too low and is their anything I can do after I signed a Memorandum of Understanding to get more money before I start teaching in December? Thanks to anyone with helpful insight on CDI! |

yes, please do the following: learn the difference between "there" and "their" before you teach any english.
also, until you've come to Korea and physically signed the contract, you are free to walk away at any time. meaning, you can still negotiate once you're here. |

Spinario, please learn how to use capital letters before you give some more uncronstructive advice.
Once you have signed the contract and are in Korea, the chance of them negotiating is very slim. |

Correct. Once you've signed the contract. CDI prospective employees don't sign a contract until after training is complete.

| Because I have yet to sign a contract and simply a Memorandum of Understanding, I expect I may have some leeway with negotiating a higher salary before I start. The guidance is appreciated and oops on the typo. Thanks! |

Steijm:
That is extremely low for CDI - it should read something more like 3.2 not 2.3...seriously. |

| i know this thread is a tad old, but isn't 2.3 for cdi acceptable if it includes housing? i thought i'd read that for cdi, the pay is high, close to or over 3mil, but without housing. |

For a first year teacher at cdi the average now is about 2.3-2.5
This is my second year here, going on the hourly this time, and I get paid about 4.2. But Ive got to pay for my housing. |

if you work at one of the brances and go on the hourly rate, i've heard you can get around 30,000-35,000W/hr depending on your experience. if he's getting 4.2/month, thats about 35k/hr, assuming 120 hours a month. |
