Please be cautious not to misplace your Bachelor's Degree
Recent changes to Immigration is that they will no longer accept your masters or PhD degree for your E-2 visa.
Some employers, especially universities will require a Masters degree to qualify. However, when it comes down to processing your visa, you will be required to submit your Bachelor's degree instead.
If you have misplaced your Bachelor's degree, do not panic. Simply request for your university to provide you with a duplicate. The duration and costs will vary from university to university.
If you had studied abroad and received your Bachelor's degree from a country OTHER THAN an accredited university from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, Scotland or Great Britain- then you will NOT be able to receive your E-2 visa in Korea to teach legally. |

Hey Sparky Park. What are you? The new "low down"
on whitey news and info? Do you think your attempt
at giving "info" really hides the free advertising you're after?
Let me tell you something Parky my boy. We already have
a news service at Dave's and his moniker is "Real Reality".
I'll let you in on a few little tips for getting work in Korea:
1/ NEVER use a recruiter.
2/ Come here first and do the leg work. Look at the school
and apartment. |

That rule is over 4 months old at this stage. Thanks anyway for plastering it on the forums like that ...
Problems with Park English
1) They are 'partnered' with the Korean Department of Education, yet they recruit many teachers for public schools. This means that if you have a complaint against the DoE, you'll be looking for ParkEnglish to fight your corner for you. Is there a conflict of interest there ? ... I think so.
2) If you have a complaint against Park English. You'll have to take it to either the DoE or the Department of Education. Again, conflict of interest.
3) They say that they carefully prescreen their schools. When in actual fact they just spam Dave's job boards offering teachers to anyone with cash ...
4) Your website info is wrong or misleading in places. For instance you never mention in your 'visa run' part, that in fact it's illegal for a teacher to work in Korea without a visa. And that they will be subject to fines and/or deportation if they are caught. Also, there are no visa issuance letters anymore ...
5) They're too cheap to buy ads on daves, so they post these crappy notices instead ... does anyone else find that annoying ? |

| Chucky, He low balled you. I got a much better deal and all I had to do was give up my freedom and TPOH. The only TV I can watch now is SBS news. I have two hours to decide, after that I can't post it. What to do .. what to do? |

I've applied to Park English twice after they emailed me and have never received a response. I've since added them to my spam filter. I suggest this site treats these posts as spam. The person could easily use their name or an alias. In future call me Microsoft, iPod, Coke and Park English. |

This is the first I've heard of the new immigration requirement. If Park hadn't posted it, I wouldn't have known about it. So thanks. And the same with their other posts.
What a bunch of nasty people some of you are. Regardless of your experience with Park, nothing warrants such crude slams in a public forum, especially when the OP is making positive contributions.

CBP : The OP is spamming the forums with his hackneyed 'advice'. It's just a crude attempt at free advertising on his behalf. I mean it's not like he's doing it out of the goodness of his heart or anything ...
There is space allotted on the forum already for advertising. If the OP wishes to use it then more power to him. However, I don't wish to read his ad copy when I'm surfing this or any other forum. |

You guys have got it all wrong.
Park English is a very reputable recruiter run by two American Korean ladies.
I have not really enlisted their services but have spoken with one of the owners, Cecilia Park and she was super nice and helpful.
They have posted this obviously just trying to help you. |

Anyway is the information posted actually true?
I have an M.A. but no B.A. That probably sounds dodgy to a lot of you, but its not. In Scotland a lot of Universities (such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, St. Andrews..) issue an M.A. after 4 years of study as opposed to the B.A that is issued in England after 3 years of study. This means that lots of people like me who graduated in Scotland have an M.A. but no B.A.
In Britain its usually regarded as equivalent to a B.A. from a British University. In Korea however it has let me move up the pay scales a notch, which has been nice.
So am I going to be in trouble in future if I apply for a new job? |

I am in this situation as well. I am from Scotland so I have an MA but no BA. I will be coming without a job. I will be coming back to Korea mid-January and im trying to get a check list.
Degree,
Transcripts (signed across the flap)
Passport page photocopy,
4 passport photos.
Do the transcrpits have to be signed AND dated?
And who signs the flap - the person who signed my original degree OR the person from the academic registry (and whose signature in or my transcripts)? Im guessing the person from the academic registry as they already have their signature on transcrpits
I love Korean immigration and the bs hoops they make foreigners job through. Not. |

Note to UK graduates. Some UK universities WILL NOT supply you with a duplicate degree certificate if you lose the original. Instead they will give you a letter stating that you graduated from said institution and what classification of degree you earned.
