but I don't think that's right. And I'm looking for more information in general anyways. He has to provide hours that will be worked for the employee? What if the employer just wants to sponsor but the hours worked may be quite low like some of the public school jobs I see that offer a visa despite not asking the employee to work many hours? Location of course... specific details on the application that may influence the people at immigration on whether they will grant the visa or not?

Any and all info appreciated, I assume there's a website out there for this in Korean but in English would be better... thanks!

From what I understand, you have to have a sponsor. That's it. You can agree to work 50 hours a week or 20. You will still get the E2 visa.

The questions about working hours apply to the contract between you and your employer. Immigration doesn't care if you work 20 or 30. That is between you and your employer.

You mention low hours of public school jobs. Most people teach 20-25 hours in a public school job, but most also work 9-5 (or some variation), so the actual time at the school is 40 hours a week.

This is the documentation required of an employer to submit to an immigration office to apply for an E-2 visa for a foreign teacher.

Documents Required for E-2 Visa Process.
1. Hagwon registration.
2. Business registration.
3. Visa sponsorship form (personal reference form).
4. Application for confirmation of visa issuance form.
5. Signed contract.
6. Original degree or copy of degree notarized by a Korean embassy or consulate.
7. University transcripts, in a sealed official university envelope that is both stamped (official University stamp) and signed by an authorized University representative across the seal of the envelope.
8. Employee�s resume.
9. Copy of the Identification page of employee�s passport.
10. 2, passport sized current photographs of the employee.
11. Teacher�s Schedule.
12. Explanation of how you found the teacher.

I got it straight off the immmgration form that is given to directors of hagwons when they want to apply for an E-2 visa. I translated it into English but if you like I could probably scan the Korean form and paste it up here for you to look at.

I own a hagwon by the way (I'm an Aussie not Korean, if anyone is wondering).
