Hi,
I wonder if anyone can advise me about whether I should include information about a teaching job I had in Japan last year which I left because of a family illness emergency at home in Ireland or not in my new resume when applying for a job in Korea?
Many thanks,
Blade. |

It depends on which job you are applying for. Most hagwons won't bother to check your prvevious employment record. Some public schools MAY call a previous employer. A lot of the better schools and universities will do so also.
I have had some "less then ideal" jobs in the past and I've always included them on my resume. I've never had trouble finding work.
Good luck. |

Well the thing is that I have already sent off a number of resumes with my Japanese employment history included because I taught that the experience would be a positive but today I read somewhere that Koran schools might not be to impressed if they were to see that I left a previous job early.
I wonder now should I delete all reference to my Japanese teaching job or leave my resume as it is?
Thank you for your reply.
Cheers,
Blade. |

| Keep it there. They might ask, they might not. Be ready to answer why you left. In my opinion, having nothing there for that time is a greater detriment than showing you were working and left early. Most people, if actually looking at your resume, will wonder what you did during that time if you don't have anything there. |
