Liberals seem to equate Christianity with stupidity.
And they seem to go out of their way to be rude and disrespectful to Christians every chance they get.
I can't--for the life of me--figure it out.
This board is filled with liberals. Someone enlighten me.
It's ok if you want to be rude. I'm used to it. |

Otis, I think I can enlighten you, let me give it a shot:
Since you're from the bottom 48, I assume you're refering to American Liberals, who are in fact, fiscally conservative, while your Republicans, are fiscally spending whores. Not sure where that falls on the political spectrum.
Anyway, you've got a whole bunch of Christians in the United States. They like certain parts of the Bible, and seem to have really taken to the 10 commandments especially, which is fine, although, that's Old Testament, and that's the same as the Jews, while Jesus provided the thesis for the New Testament. However, there's a problem that all these Christians in the U.S. seem to have with Jesus. They don't like the parts about not being rich. The whole camel through a needle thing. So, they kind of skip over that part. And, they seem to not like the part about turning the other cheek, because that would hurt the whole Military Industrial Complex, which puts food on the table of those same Christians. But, sticking to just the 10 commandments, well, that doesn't hurt the pocketbook. Doing whatever it takes to end a woman's right to choose, because it's murder. But, the soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. they are not murderers, they are homeland protectors, even though Iraq never attacked America, ever.
Now, we get to the Republicans. Their policies fiscally are anti-Jesus. They are the party of the rich, and they are the war party. So, why would good Christian folk ever want to elect them? Well, the first part is easy: anti-government. The government is bad, except when they are helping the poor, and giving churches tax-free status. Another slippery area. But, the republicans/Karl Rove figured out that they could co-opt the Christians by standing up for the 10 commandments, so long as they didn't support Jesus' teaching of money abstinence. The Christians could feel good about themselves, while keeping all their money!
So you see Otis, the reason why so many "Liberals" "hate" "Christians" is because so many "Christians" who claim to be for "Jesus" are in fact
"Money-lovers" and therefore are "hypocrites". Or did I miss the part of the Bible that says that it's ok to bomb thousands of innocent civilians for oil, and to be outlandishly rich while leaving most of the world to fight over the scraps?
Oh, but then Americans will say, "If it wasn't for us, the world would be under a godless thumb of the Soviets/Hitler". And you would be correct. Too bad America and it's Christians can't be better Christians, though. |

Um, Big Bill, (Otis) I think you just start a thread here every once in a while only to allow a clickable link to your itty-bitty blog down there in your sigline ... maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
And, of course, by pointing it out, I'm sure you'll get a few more hits, so now you can call me a friend, I guess.

For the past year at least, the CE Forum has been fiilled to the brim with the most virulent hate-spewing bigots of every stripe, disguising their poison under the cover of the exact same politically-correct notion of tolerance that they themselves abhor.
Though they themselves are not the sorts to love free speech, judging by the behavior they display towards those of us reasonable enough to disagrree with them, trhey are welcome to it, here or anywhere else. Perhaps if they are allowed to look at their thoughts as expressed, tyhere will cme a day when they see how very stupid the things they are, how very unlikely their ideas are to make the world better ...
Ever notice how many bigots are conservatives, how many are attracted there instead of elsewhere? Ever wonder what it might be about that particular ideology that draws them?
I don't get you when you say there are too many liberals around here. There ain't nearly enough. Those of us that yet exist have found other places to say what we can to do what benefit we might think is possible in the world, and maybe we just stop by here occasionally.
And the recent elections in the US have something to say about the health of conservatism at the presenty moment.
You, sir otis, have yet to have shown yourself capable of being taken seriously.
Yes, I think I can say that with confidence. |

There are many questions one could ask about such a question. What does he classify as a Christian? Simply the Evangelicals of the South from whence he comes, or does he also include Lutherans and Catholics, as well. There are large differences between Christians in the U.S., and there are wide differences between Liberals. Some people who consider themselves relatively liberal do not want to be associated with certain liberals and certain Christians are not into some of the fire and brimstone type Christians that abound in the South and West. And a final question is this person just looking to stir up controversy. First, he was talking about Canadians not liking Americans, and now it is Liberal American versus Christian Christian. What gives? |

I try so hard to hate you!
But who am I fooling?
Sometimes I picture you back in Nova Scotia on a cool frosty morning. You are wearing your cool Spider-Man pijamas and making fantabulous contributions to the world of art with your cartoons while your mother shovels snow from the drive way.
I picture our secret forbidden man-love flourishing. We hold hands while skipping merrily across the tundra. I club the wiley seal while you stay home at the igloo keeping the home-fires burning and baking your man a sea-lion pie. Mmmmm. It's delicious.
Let's move to San Francisco, darling! We can spend the afternoons throwing rocks at American soldiers and dancing to the Village People at the local bars! What do you say, sweetheart! Will you be my love-buddy? |

Bobby, have you been drinking again!
Don't try to deny it! I can smell it on your breath!
And find a better group of friends.
By the way, have a good Thanksgiving. Don't get too lonely. If you're going to drink, do it with friends.
God bless.
