| I can't believe I'm even asking this, but pros and cons, please. I assume the biggest cons are not getting paid and/or being deported. Are there any reasons you should try to work a camp or other part time position before you have a visa? |

Are you saying these are not enough to disuade you from doing it? |

Can you get a C-4 visa to work a camp? I have no idea, but it's just a thought. Maybe look into that. |

| They want me to work without the C-4. When there is time to get a C-4, they don't want to pay for any of it: not the trip, not the visa fee. |

Well if you are stupid enough to post this then you are probably too stupid to take our advice.
With no VISA you have no rights. I suggest you get paid every week. Even then I wouldn't doubt you get screwed on your last week.
If you don't like Korea that much, then take the job. Hopefully the money you make will cover the fine and the trip home. |

I'd be worried about not getting paid. Camps are easy to bust. You'd be better off working for a recruiter doing company work (if you're going to work illegally).
But, like everything in Korea, trust your gut. You know when something is shady. |

You may or may not get busted - luck of the draw.
But what would make them want to pay you? Nothing binding there. |

| My point in coming to do a camp first was so that I could take my time afterwards in finding a decent permanent job. Nothing's going to be ideal. I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel and trying to make the best choice in a bad situation. |

You don't need to do a camp for that. Just come on a tourist visa and look for a job. Then when you find one, do a visa run. |

I'm here. A camp would enable me to take my time, stay longer, and check out parts of Korea outside of Seoul while I'm looking for permanent work. However, North American + university degree + experience + blonde does not mean anyone's going to be the slightest interested in hiring you. Also, no one I've talked to will pay for any portion of a visa run, nor the visa fees. Those two little myths have been busted, along with the idea that contracts are negotiable. Gah.

you are a sitting duck at a camp. If Immi does a crackdown camps will be the first places they hit because
a) there arent that many of them compared with hagwons or other places
b) there are a lot of people like you wanting to do them illegally.
Why would you even consider it? |

I don't "want" to do anything illegally, thanks. Illegal camp jobs are all I've been offered at the moment. |
