How much money are people sending home each month in CDN, or W?
I'm hoping to send home more cash, but my school said no extra work until maybe March. There must be something else I could, maybe hand out flyers for the hogwon or something promoting extra classes? I'm frustrated now... |

Have you seen the Canadian $ to won exchange rate recently? 796 won to the dollar....best I've seen in my time here.
I'm sending home everything I can scrape together, including my change collection, which has now gone past the 100,000w mark! |

| A million, minimum per month- that almost $1200 CD right now. Ideally, I send closer to 1.5 + bask in the exchange rate which makes it almost 1,750$. Assa! |

Currently sending home between 4-5,000,000 converted into US dollars. This exchange rate is better but not as good as when I arrived. Back then it was 800 Won to the dollar and held until the currency crisis started in 1997....and it went to the value of toilet paper. It's been a long struggle to just get back to where it once was. |

| Ideally 1.7 million won/month. I have a couple extra million won hanging around in my bank account here for emergency purposes but I think I'll send home half of that now that the exchange rate is so good. |

| I send between 2,300,000 - 3,300,000 depending on my salary (I send as much as I make legally), but I've got a husband teaching here as well who is paid in cash, so I don't need to spend any of my salary So, consider shacking up and you'll earn faster. |

Question to people living off their salary and no privates which are against visa policy.
If you send 1.7 milion+ home - how do you live from paycheck to paycheck? |

I send home 1.7 mill a month and don't do any privates.
I make 2.3 a month. From this, minus pension, tax, health, bills, etc, I'm left with just under 2.1 of that.
That's 100 000 won a week for food, entertainment, etc. Plenty to live on if you're not a big drinker. You can even do a bit of travelling around Korea on this budget. |

| The wife and I (two salaries) have sent over 10,000$ home in 6 months and that includes trips to Japan, Philippines and now Vietnam. Don't spend much on drinking and that is the difference from alot of people on here. And the two salaries is nice. |
