...when you get a new job and the whole world seems RIGHT and exciting, before the minor annoyances have time to raise their ugly little heads and become daily disillusioning reality?

I snagged what I think will be a GREAT job today and I'm feeling pretty damn good about it. I applied three times before and was always turned down because of age...and because young, cute, blond, FOB people applied...and then kept getting fired. FINALLY the place has someone in command who wants to try someone with experience, not to mention a teaching license. What a refreshing change.

Very Happy Just 10 more days (half days) of high school losers before I move on to a life with real live adults. During the day! Adults who, after they learn to speak actually have something to say in response to "How was your weekend? What did you do?" besides, "Sleeping" or "Computer games".

Actually, you're likely to get the same responses from adults, along with maybe "soju." However, congratulations.

Yeah, many adults can be just as boring as kids. But I've taught this kind of student before (military) and the percentage of interesting people is much, much higher than in an average group.

Examples:

I once asked a student what he did last summer and he answered, "I sank a North Korean submarine".

I asked another student what that thing was he was wearing around his neck. "Oh, this piece of metal? It's the (I forget what he called it, but it's the thing you pull on a parachute to make it open). My chute didn't open so I had to pull this. It saved my life."

And also "nothing special" but I wouldn't trade adults for kids anyday. I suggest you don't change your style much though, they are used to the totalitarian system of teaching so you have to pretty much tell them what to do. I've learned "what do you want to do?" doesn't work very well.

If you are blonde, young and american you can do no wrong. People learn english just by looking at you.
