Does anybody have any information on doing a visa run to Thailand? I could not find any information in the Travel Forum.

It is in the FAQs:

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=1257

Other destination visa run info listings are at the bottom of this link:
(under visas in the FAQs)

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=20648

Hope that was some help. I don't have first hand information. I have never done a visa run to Thailand.

Thanks. I went to the link and there was some technical information about doing a visa run in Thailand.

Has anybody out there recently done a visa tun to Thailand? If yes, what was your experience? Any advice?

I just did it. Its easy. You have to drop your passport off one afternoon between 1-3 or 1:30-3:30, I can't remember which one. Then you pick it up the next day between 10:30 and 11:30. Being a dumb American, I just showed up at 9:30 in the morning to drop off my passport. They weren't too pleased, but after a lot of smiles and begging, they took it and it was ready the next day.
The only problem with the Embassy is that it is in the middle of nowhere. Way on the other side of the city from all the touristy stuff (It was literally off the map we had of Bangkok). It is still only between 100-150 baht for the ride (less than US$5), but it can take up to an hour with traffic. We were in the Khoasan road area. I would get the address written in Thai for you so you can show it to the taxi driver. Hope that helps!

It's now the embassy though, it's the consulate, and I heard that they aren't that close to one another. Am I right? I need to go there next month, so could anyone clarify? Thanks.

Yeah It's the Embassy/consulate. The consular is a nice little building in the front on the street so you don't actually go onto the embassy grounds which are behind the consulars office behind a massive gate system. The time for dropping the PP off is 1:30 - 3:30. There are buses that go directly by and if you wanted to be thrifty or like a challenge you can use a bus map and find it and save yourself around 300 baht or so. Better you write the address down and show it to a taxi driver. In Thai you would ask for the "Satan-tut Kalree".

Careful you don't ask for "Satan-tut Karee" or you may end up in Soi Cowboy or Nana plaza.

Are they friendly at the embassy Spliff?

I just spoke to a very nice lady there who says that she can notarize my documents for 80 B a copy.

However I need to go to the UK embassy and have it done there first for 1313 baht per copy.

Not overly friendly but not unfriendly....they are professional...if you jump through all the specified hoops then your paperwork/visa will be processed. Mostly young girls at the windows who are able to speak Thai and seem to be generally well educated.

Perhaps it should be more like "Saa-ten-tut Kaohee..... Very Happy

Are you coming over, Squirrel?

Looks probable.

I may change my mind if I find out I've really gone into business with a Nigerian prince or won the European Union Lottery.

Otherwise I reckon 99% touchdown is imminent.

I'm having nightmares (real ones) about documents though which is a bit off putting.

^ you need sealed transcripts as well, you know? Are you going for a public school position? If you are, you will need also to provide additional documents.
