So I'm thinking about the things I wanna bring when I leave at the end of Feb. and was seriously considering bringing my curling iron and straightners as I dont want to have to buy new ones when I get there. They're pretty small. Will they work in an adapter? They'll have a US plug. I was just going to get a new hair dryer when I get there, but should I bring one from home?

Also, I've been told to stock up on tampons, bras, and make up. lol Any other tips?

Thanks,
newbie Laughing

Hair dryers are cheap and plentiful here. Don't bother bringing yours.

You can get tampons here. However, you wont be able to find your favorite brand. Bring deoderant.

Curling iron and straighteners are dirt cheap here (you can pick one up for less than 10 bucks, even!), so I wouldn't bother bring them over. When you leave, you can always sell them again or give them away.

There are plenty of pads available here but at first it involves standing in the aisle for sometime trying to figure which ones are which. During this time some sales person will have wandered up to you and started showing you (and talking to you in high speed korean) the 'features' of the latest pad on the market, complete with open pad display (I know what a pad looks like, I don't need it shoved in my face thank you very much!)
I have a particular brand and style that I prefer from home so I choose to bring some over but if your not fussed I wouldn't worry too much about pads. Tampons are limited in options as someone mentioned earlier.

If you wear thong underwear, bring plenty with you . . .I think I saw them once at a department store. But then, I could have been dreaming.

my japanese friend brought her hair dryer and the thing went nuts when she plugged it in here and turned it on. the voltage was too much and it started smoking and stuff. i don't think your typical hair dryer is going to have anything inside it to regulate the voltage so you'd need more than just a regular adapter.

Thongs are becoming more prevalent these days, seen them around in a few places.
