I'd say it would have to be somewhere close to the area you'd like to work in...for convenience and all?
Unless you have offers of places to crash that is? |

Yea, as re:cursive said, decide on where you'd like to live for the year. Arrange your interviews from home. Then, when you arrive, you can visit them in a short time period. |

Ok, thanks. I guess that leads to another question. Where is a good place to live in Seoul? What are the advantages / disadvantages of certain areas? |

Depends on where your job is. If you work in Gangnam, an economical place would be the Silim-dong (near Seoul Nat'l Univ.) or Sadang areas. Places in Gangnam are WAY overpriced.
Try not to live too far from where you work, as the commute can get to you. |

I think the main question you need to ask yourself is, how much immersion do you wish to experience regarding korean culture.
Living in small towns and cities will limit you from western restaurants, entertainment, and groceries. They will also not have many foreigners residing.
If this is your first experience in asia, i'd suggest staying in Seoul or Busan, which has a large foreigner mass, and tons of things to keep you busy, and where language would be less of a problem.
If you would rather experience korea more intensely, pick a smaller place..under 1million people, for example.
I'm not all that familiar with seoul, but the preferred areas are Gangnam and Bundang. |
