I am teaching 5 different types of classes at the moment:

TOEFL writing
TOEFL conversation & listening
SAT critical reading & writing
Essay writing for Jr High School
Conversation for Jr High School

This is all at the same hagwon.
Man! Preparation time is beginning to take up my entire week.

Question:
Am I getting screwed or is this type of schedule the norm?

Is your boss requiring you to work hours that you're not getting paid for?

I teach five different types. It was overwhelming at first, but now that I'm familiar with the books, it requires very little prep.

Elementary: Level 1/3/5. 1 Special class for advanced students. A listening class for junior and senior high students.

So that's 5 different classes but it doesn't take too long for prep. Only 2 pages a day out of each book we do.

I teach 12 different twenty-five minute classes to kindergarteners and elementary school kids every day. No, I don't prepare anything. Beat that!

English conversation (1st years)
Listen lab usually (3rd 4th years)
English Composition (open university class)
Med students (hate them)
Morning conversation class (open class...students/buisiness types) OT pay
and last but not least my slang class.

So I guess I teach 6 classes.

Elementary Grade 4 Advanced and Intermediate English
Elementary Grade 4 Advanced and Intermediate Science
Elementary Grade 6 Advanced and Intermediate English
Elementary Grade 6 Advanced and Intermediate Science
Alternate Elementary Grade 6 Advanced English
Middle School Grade 2 English Literature
High School Grade 2 English Literature
ToEFL Writing
Middle School Multi-grade Science

I work with 9 sets of books, so I guess I have 9 preps...but the intermediate kids don't do the same exact things as the advanced kids, even though they use the same books, so maybe I have 13 preps.

I'm about to start a job where i will teach one class.

4.5 hours everyday,

The same 6-8 students (high school grads prepping for US university),

For 6+ weeks.

Should I be scared? It's less hours overall, but still, I fear burnout on everyone's part.

I guess 5 classes is the norm...
Gotta figure out a way to consolidate some of the teaching material.

BTW:
My hagwon associate director is a Nazi.
She is adamant kids get more homework.
I don't know how Jr High school kids are expected to learn 100 vocabulary words a day.
