Right. My new job doesn't supply housing, so I'm out looking at the different markets in Gangbuk, Seoul. I've checked the wiki, which was informative. I am wondering if anyone has any recomendations re:
* Neighbourhoods. Any recommendations, beyond Itaewon/Haebangchon/Hongdae/Sinchon?
* Cunning. What kind of bad behaviour do I have to be aware of from the budongsans and building owners?
* Fees. How much should I expect to pay the budongsan? Am I the only one that pays, or do building owners pay as well? Has anyone used an English speaking Budongsan to find a place outside the expat ghetto? |

I moved into an officetel and it wasn't cheap.
The rental agent fee was 300,000 won. (But she searched everyday for 2 1/2 weeks).
I looked in Aeogae, Shinchon, Hongdae, Sindorim, etc.
The closer you get to central Seoul and Gangnam, the higher the rent.
The cheapest place I saw was in Shinchon. The key money deposit was 5,000,000 won and the monthly rent was 450,000. It was a really small studio. |

Right. Thanks for that, even if it's not what I want to hear. The tiny studio is at the limits of my price range.
Any suggestions on neighbourhoods further from the center?
I hate to say it, but the expat ghetto is looking better and better. |
