Made you look didn't I? Seriously, I am doing a psychology course with Athabasca University (www.athabascau.ca), a Canadian distance university. For the term paper, I need to "observe" a preschool child, aged 2.5 to 5 years of age in a natural seeting (playing at home) for 30 minutes and take notes. There are a few things which you should know about if you are willing to do this.
1) I won't use the name of your child in my paper. Your child will only be referred to as "M", or something similar.
2) You have to sign a consent form which I will submit with my paper.
3) I may draw conclusions about your child which are not flattering, but I won't discuss them with you, unless you want me too. Everything I write is highly confidential. For example, in terms of developemental psychology, I will be interested in determing if your child is "securely attatched", or "anxiously attached" and if you are an "authoritarian", "authoritative" or "permissive" parent."
4) The reason I am looking for children on this forum, is that I am to be an observer, not a participant. I think it would be better to find a child with at least one western parent, so that I can observe and not be the focus of attention.
The purpose of the paper is to show that I can observe a child and draw conclusions about whether the child's behaviour is typical or atypical for a child of that age.
I am in the 청주 / 대전 Cheongju / Taejon area. Although I would prefer to observe children in this area, I am willing to travel. (to Seoul?)
"My Korean spouse" ( read between the lines - just in case anyone is trying to creat trouble for foreigners) is willing to pay you for your time.
