Ya-Ta,

I don't think Al Gore is going to get in it. Certainly if he did, I'd consider supporting him. I don't think I'd support Hillary Clinton.

The top tier candidates are probably going to be Obama, Clinton, McCain, Guliani and Edwards. I'd put the odds at 90% that it's one of these five. Of course, Bill Clinton was pretty much an unknown before the 1992 election and came out of nowhere, so I wouldn't rule it out happening again.

The right wing attack dogs must be foaming at the mouth now that she's in the race.

Dave, I disagree.

The right-wing attack dogs have already neutered Obama. Unfortunately, he will never recover from this:

Quote:
Barack Obama was given a rude awakening to the cut-throat world of presidential politics yesterday after being accused of hiding four years in which he was educated at a madrassa when a teenager.

The claim, made in the conservative Insight magazine, also revealed the Machiavellian scheming of political activists in a presidential race still nearly two years away.

The best he can do is as a VP candidate with Clinton (my hope) or John Edwards.

I don't think we disagree about what has happened to Obama. They have done him a terrible disservice in terms of the smear job on him. I really think Hillary Clinton is next. They are just waiting for her to get the nomination. With all the anti-Hillary websites that have been up for that last few years, they are waiting to pounce on her.

By the way, I was aware of that before you brought it up. It's a shame though.

I'm fine with either Clinton or J.E., but I would have preferred Obama. Anybody but a republican at this point. And I think that John Edwards has the best chance to beat them.

Ok, never mind. I understand what your saying now. You think Obama is pretty much dead in terms of a presidential run. Yeah, you might be right on that one.

I'll go with Mitt Romney or McCain. Hillary Clinton would be just as big a disaster as Slick Willy was.

Ok, I will bite.

How was Bill Clinton a disaster? And, as you have on the other thread said you like Bush, how has G.W.Bush not been a disaster?

I hate to break this to you, but it seems as though Hilly and her henchmen are the ones that started all this questioning about Obama's educational background:

Of course, this is in Insight magazine itself and not some british smear paper so it can't be right. Rolling Eyes

Why "hate to break it to me"?

Anyways, he spent at least 2 years in a muslim school while living in Jakarta and then two more at a Catholic school. He wrote about it.

I don't think it matters if it was the left or right that brought it up. Stick a fork in him, he be done.

Dave,

You are almost certainly right, but I hope not. I think Gore is the most presidential of the known Democrats. He has the experience in high office; a LOT of people feel he was cheated in '00; he has given a series of noted speeches over the last 6 years.

Had he announced, I doubt any of the others would have entered the race. He would have been a shoo-in. (Or as some posters would have it--a shoE-n Very Happy )

His one weakness is that he may not have the relentless ambition, the killer instinct for the run.

It's still WAY too early to be announcing a run. The first caucus/primary is a year away. Plenty of time to let Barak, Hillary and John savage each other and be savaged by the right wing attack dogs and then have Al step in and rescue the Republic from the disasterous current GOP administration.

We need a Draft Al campaign.

BJWD:

Think impeachment, the little blue dress, the flavored cigar, not the mention; "I never had sex with that woman." A whole darned year wasted on impeachment proceedings.

Perhaps Hillary will have a chance if she sings; "stand by your man . . ".
