As far as I know, AFN is not available on regular cable in daegu. If you are able to recieve it, what is your cable company?

I lived just outside the city limits of Daegu for a year and I was SOL in terms of getting AFN. I'm not sure about inside Daegu though. I would think inside the city limits you should be able to get it,

Check with your local cable company. You might have to get your cable disconnected and go with the stock 4 or 5 channels, one of which is AFN. I had to do that when I lived in Bucheon. Because AFN gets the shows for free, cable companies can't piggyback the signal with their cable packages.

I can't get it, and I've checked with BOTH of the companies that service my area of the city.
I'm curious about this too. I wonder id there are places in the city that can get it.

I get it, but can't help yeah. Cable is part of my rent so I have no idea who I get it with. I'm not stuck with 4 or 5 channels either, I have 60-70.

I also live in Sang-in and get AFN but again it's included in my rent.

Also, there are commercials on AFN stating that the only reason AFN is free to military members is because others cannot view it. Thoughts?

This is straight from Lt Col McDorman head of AFN-K, Korean cable companies are ILLEGALLY pirating the AFN-K signal. Since so many USFK personnel live off post they have to put out one AFN signal over the air so they can get command info in case something happens regarding the North.

It is also why you dont get the NBA, MLB and the NFL on AFN since those leagues have negoitated rights deals with Korean channels and AFN carrying them interferes with these rights.

everything changed last Feb after the Winter Olympics, about the only decent sports I've seen on AFN since then was the Final Four and ONE game of the NBA Finals other than that its been crap relegated to 9 or 10AM on Sat

Heck AFN doesnt even carry SNL anymore

note: I found a Korean channel that carries it, XTM, also found some college hoops on SBS Sports yesterday, some old PAC 10 games
