Met a prof today working at a local university. She has an E1 visa.
Does anyone have any ideas what this E1 visa is - and the differences between and E1 and the usual E2 teachers visa?
Thanks for any info. |

E1 is a visiting professor.
It is good for 2 years
It is NOT limited to one physical location (for example you can do research at multiple campuses of the UNI)
and IT IS NOT limited to teaching language.
Policy used to require (I don't know if it still does) a post grad degree (MBA, MA, M.Sc. PhD.)
E2 is teacher of a foreign language.
It is good for 1 year.
It is limited to one physical location
and limited to teaching language only.
It only requires that you hold a Bachelor's degree AND be a native speaker of the language. |

I was given an E1 by mistake. From what I've been told, the differences between and E1 and an E2 are largely contractual. There are no advantages to an E1 unless you get it stated in your contract.
Mine is good for one year. |
