Hi there, we have recently been offered a great deal by our hogwon to stay on an extra year after our contracts are up, and they are giving us 2 months vacation inbetween. So we are not sure how the visa thing works -do we need to do the whole visa run to Japan again, or is there a way of just renewing our visas in Korea, as we will be with the same employer? |

If you are staying on with the same company, you don't need to do another visa run. All that needs to happen is that the company writes out an ammendment to your contract stating the change in termination date (it can only be a one year extension, so because you are taking 2 months off, you will have to get another extension in a year from now.) Also, be aware, at least this is what happened at my school, a teacher took 3 months off, and had to pay health insurance for those 3 months. You need to go to immigration before you go on your 2 months vacation, and it will cost 30,000 won.
Good to hear that you are enjoying you hagwon. I like mine, and have been there for 4.5 years. |
