Hey,

I've recently come upon a situation where I need a bit of cash in hand. I have a Canadian credit card but I don't know the PIN (its not though my home bank). It would take too long to call and have them mail it to me.

Can I just go into a bank and ask for a withdrawl on the card? I can show ID and all that. I've never been in a situation like this, so help is appreciated. I don't want to go in there and have them think I'm an idiot, or worse think that the thing is stolen. I don't use the card too much, although I'm now regretting not learning the PIN.

Thanks!

Sorry, despite my 'location' I'm actually in Seoul, not Canada.

Nostrildogmas - perfect! Laughing

For the OP, in the days before PINs, that's exactly what you did - go into the bank and and ask for help. I would hope they've kept that around as a backup system.

You could try. Why don't you take a Korean friend to the bank with you, have him/her explain and ask. Or, just get the number and have someone call the bank and ask.

When i first came to korea i lost my bank card upon arrival.. not sure how but it was lost. and all i had was my credit card. I rarely seldom use my card and have never taken a cash advance on it.. and i too forgot my pin number.

I went to the KEB in itaewon and gave them my passport and they were happy to give me a cash advance on it, even though i couldnt remember my pin number.

good luck . Smile
