Firstly, I'd like to thank the people on this board who have helped me thus far in my mission to get to Korea.

I'm due to leave tomorrow (Saturday) - it was originally Friday, but they changed it at the last second!

So, any last minute, life saving, urgent, need-to-know tips or advice anyone would like to offer?

Once again, cheers everyone Cool

Arrive drunk, stay drunk.

Best of luck. See you on the other side.

Expect the unexpected, and don't lose your patience when plans change at the last minute. (This happens a lot with Koreans)

Bring enough money so you can survive for two months and fly back home if things don't work out as expected. Good luck.

Bring an open mind, and don't expect things to be the same as things back home. If you go with that attitude, then it's much easier in the long run. If you're always comparing things to how they are where you live at home, you'll go crazy. Accept the change, embrace the atmosphere, and you'll have a great time.

grab a small stash of powerbars or clif bars. If you are coming from the states, you'll be traveling for at least 12 hours, plus another 1-2 hours getting in to town from the airport ... you might feel starved but not feel like trying to figure what you can eat and where you can eat it. Having clifbars really helped bail me out those first couple of days when my body was getting worked over by jetlag and wasn't familiar with eating here yet.

Don't worry about a hobby. You will soon have a backpack full of rocks to carry around ( A.K.A Korean Wife).

Ha, ha! He's already experienced this, with the delayed flight at the last day. Laughing

Sounds as if you have it pretty well down. Remember to agree with what you are told to do; then, do it only if you want to and if it is really necessary!

Keep an open mind. Enjoy yourself and good luck!

buy a bike when you get here. you can get a cheap one for 100,000 won or so. the weather is great - not very cold at all, and it's a great way to get to know your neighborhood/city.

If you are fat, someone will probably remind you of this within 24 hours
of your arrival. Don't take offense, it's normal.

Cheers everyone,

I'm here now (at last)!

Going through that wonderment/strangeness phase now - not seen a Westerner yet (aside from one of the teachers who picked me up from the airport).

Open mind all the way!
