It's just happened to me - she didn't agree with something I said from two weeks ago. I was in the school for an hour before classes and she was in the teachers room with me but did not speak. Only when claases started did she start attacking me in front of students. When I told her to wait till class was over, she just kept it up, raising her voice.
What do you do in this situation? The kids were obviously upset - |
Say goodbye to the students and walk out of the classroom.
It is neither the time or the place for that.
She can deal with you in the principal's (or VP's) office if it was something so bad that she felt the need to pick a fight in the classroom. |

Walk out and see your handler. If you don't get a satisfactory response see the principal. Refuse to teach with her at any rate...someone like that, you just can't work with. |

I agree.
I would have just smiled, said good bye and walked out to head for VP's office. |

You weren't watching porn on the classroom computer again. You know that upsets people. Tut! Tut! |

I wouldn't have gone that far...yet. I look at it as the VP is a near last resort. Solve your differences between each other if possible. Maybe this teacher really needed to blow off steam. Play the Korean game, play professional and forgiving, and tally it as a point in your favour for when you screw up. |

With me it would all come down to age and experience. If one of the newbies I've worked with did that I'm quite confident I could sh*t on him / her in front of the whole class and come out on top. I can't imagine one of the senior teachers doing that to me but if it happened I'd try to respond with vocabularly he / she couldn't understand (or French) and make it look like it was a big misunderstanding to the kids. A rookie who did that to me would be in for a right bollocking in front of all the teachers in the staff room afterwards, though. |

Threatening to discuss the matter with VP is the best solution. If you just try to talk to them, they'll just BS you any way. So threat and bringing it up with VP is the best way they'll keep their trap shut.
Don't take any *beep* from your co-teacher. I made my co-teacher cry twice (once in front of the entire class) and I'm proud of it. She picked a wrong person to fight. |

The V.P.? You mean people out there actually have V.P. that will take care of business, and tell those K-teachers to mind their "P's and Q's"?
I don't believe it.
Well, I won't say what I would do in that situation, or what I've done.

When it comes to teaching, you are both on the same side.
The same wage-master, even if your opinions differ.
Are the children able to learn in an atmosphere of conflict?
Trying to live at peace is always the best choice to make. |

Why on earth would she pick an argument in the middle of a class? and why about something from 2 WEEKS AGO? Somebody holds a grudge don't they.
I would have done as you did, say that we would talk about it later. Howver, she kept on and was raising her voice, so I would have told the kids to get on with their exercise, and taken her out of the room. I would have repeated that we should talk about the matter after class and if she still continued I would have left her in the classroom and gone to get my supervisor if she/he was available.
She sounds totally unprofessional.

I would have embarassed her asd she was trying to do to you. I would have embarassed her by ignoring her. Kids are sharp, much sharper than we sometimes think. They know when someone is doing something they shouldn't, even if they don't have the vocabulary to describe it. |

Watch out man.......keep an eye out for those "perfect" teachers lurking on the board, (This statement only applies to a select few. In fact, Id on't think I have seen any of them today.) waiting to flame you.......................but, I am not one of them. I agree with you.
