Been surfing Dave's for over 2 hours ~ must not be using the correct combination of search queries, as I've still not found a clear answer ~
Please help if u can & if not I like jokes too ^-^
OK Here it is>
My current visa expires Feb 23. I'm loath to go to immigration to extend my visa by 5 days to Feb 28th (contract ending).
My new job expects to be giving me my visa issuance sometime between Feb 15-28th. Classes start March 2.
Ok~ here's my hare-brained plan...Leave Korea to Fukuoka on Feb 23rd. If I dont have my new VI# by then, leave funds with the laision for the overnight mailing of said paper to my hotel in Japan.
Since we didnt go anywhere this vacation, the boy & I thought we'd extend the Japan visa run for some fun.
Essential question here:
Can the VI# be faxed or mailed to me in Japan? Seems simple, logical, easy even if they are provided a pre-addressed envelope with about 20.000 won.
Worst case scenerio & it's lost in the mail, can another be faxed to consulate or hotel? Is a fax any good?
It's been 2 years since we've been on a visa run, I'd heard that now days, it's just a number & it could even come in an email~!
What say ye netizens of ESL Cafe? |

Just have your new liaison call immigration for the visa # and they can e-mail it to you (or text it, if you get a phone with international roaming). Just make sure you have a little time cushion. Relying on immigration when you most need them to be prompt and efficient is only asking for Murphy to interfere. |
