You can buy a very cheap, small vacuum that is powerful for about 40,000won. I bought one at www.gmarket.co.kr and it's been a wonderful machine. Get a korean to help you search vacuums on there and have it sent to your house for max 40,000won. It's been a great little vacuum for the time we've had it.
Good luck.

We have a vacuum cleaner we would be willing to sell--my wife has been talking about buying one of the top-of-the line ones for a while now.
It is an LG model, 500 watts, and is about 3 years old. Here's a link to an identical model, and I'll try to get pics up soon.

I doubt if it would be great on thick pile carpets. (I have yet to see such carpets in Korea, or vacuum cleaners with the power brush system to properly clean them.) However, it still sucks well--definitely a lot better than the cheap power brooms, and we've used it on our thin area rugs with no troubles. I think I have a couple extra filter/bags, but you can get them cheaply just about anywhere. The only flaw is that the handle on the motor was broken when my wife picked it up, but it doesn't really affect the performance at all, since the whole thing is on wheels.
It cost well over 100,000 three years ago, and I think similar ones go for about 90,000 new now. If you want it, I can give it to you for 35,000 (shipping included, since I rarely come to Seoul).
PM if you're interested. |
