Giorgas' 'Child Wanted' thread got me thinking.

I wanna have a child and pretty soon too. If I've not had a child in 10 years (when I'm 37) I know I'll be very depressed. I'm an incomplete individual. I know that reproducing will make me feel complete. It's my natural duty to spread my fabulous transcendent warrior genes. Love, romance and marriage are all well and good, but to me they are a vehicle to having a kid, a means to an end.

I want a daughter. Obviously I wouldn't be disappointed with a son - that's horrible - but it's pointless me denying to myself that a girl would be preferable. I'm clueless when it comes to guys, having never met my father and being raised by a single mother - no sibblings. I've always wished I had a sister.

If I looked into a crystal ball and saw that I lead a daughterless life, I wouldn't want to live. It's my only goal. I have tunnel vision. It's an obsession. Adoption isn't an option because child has to be SPIN's own flesh and blood. I want to look another human life in the eye and say to myself "this person came from my sperm".

See poll.

I really like kids, but I think that would change if I was around them 24/7. I'm much better off playing the role of teacher or cool aunt than mommy.

I already have 450 kids.

BTW, I think I clicked the last option instead of the second last option by accident, so that might screw up the results if the number of votes is small.

Kids are noisy, smelly, clumsy, expensive and time-consuming. Once you bring it home, you can't change your mind and exchange it for a better one. They are OK after about the age of 16, but even then, only from 8 to 5 and with a long break in the summer.

i want between 4-6 babies and NOW. But I know that it's not the time, so when we get a bigger apartment my boyfriend is buying me a puppy to placate (is that the right word?) me. I plan on starting to have babies when Im more financially stable and married, probably in 5-6 years when im thirty. And im going to crap them out quickly. And I wanna stay at home so I can take care of them and we can play. My last sister was born when I was fourteen and I think it's hard work, but babies and kids are fun as hell, especially if you love them.

it's interesting that right now in the poll, the large majority are males who want kids. i guess i shouldn't be too shocked by that, because i'm one of them.

My only reply is what I tell everyone who asks.....

"all the children of the world are my children." (not that I am echoing Jesus' insistence on disowning / hating one's parents. But there is some relationship. )

Female, don't want kids. If I married a man who really wanted them I'd have some...maybe one or two, that is... but personally... I like my free time too much, I'm pretty selfish and dislike being in any way responsible for other people, and for those and other reasons I don't think I'd be a very good mom. I love my students, but I'm pretty happy to be able to leave them behind when my classes are finished.

Married eight years, no kids yet.

Sure, we'll take one if it happens...

Are we going to lose sleep over it? Nope.

Don't forget dirty!! Very Happy I'm 38 and unless I marry a very young wife, I don't forsee myself having kids in the near future.

I realize a future wife would want to accept the fact that I possibly don't want to have children. I hope she would be in the same boat.

I've got a few thousand in short-term bills to pay back this year, then it's finish off the student loans.

Have your financial ducks in order before you have children, people. Never know what could happen down the road.

I want kids. I've been trying to pretend that I'm satisfied with just being and aunt, but that's a big fat ol' lie. I want kids and I want 'em now.

...just gotta find their daddy first. Confused
