No sitting on the fence, you have to make this choice, otherwise you'll be banished to the most unimaginably god-awful basement.
God has told you (pretend) that you're gonna be in Korea for the rest of your days. Did you know that Korea has FOUR SEASONS and is the only place in the world to do so? Well now you've got to pretend God is making it have just ONE. It's gonna be like either January or August until the day you die.
Whatcha gonna choose?

Wow! Surprised to see Winter winning 6-0 at the moment.
I agree. At least you get a brief respite from the cold, in my one winter's experience. It goes quite mild for a couple of days, the cold is on-and-off, on-and-off, huh?
Summer, heat and even humidity are fine if it's my day off, I've got my shorts on and am eating and drinking outside and all that good stuff. I love summery music and it's more romantic. But if it's Tuesday morning, and I'm putting my pants, shirt on, getting to school sweating my nuts off, I detest it. |

If there's a way to trade, I'll give everyone on this board all of my winters here in exchange for their summers.
No snow, sunshine, green grass, daffodils, girls in short pants, long days, sunsets.. do you guys go to Siberia for your holidays and not Thailand?

I prefer the winter. Putting on an extra layer is doable, but in the summer, I just can't disrobe enough. Plus, in the cold, it seems everyone's in it together. In the sweltering heat of summer, I just don't get the sympathy I deserve when I'm sweating like a pig. |

Ok, thanks for that.
But - if you had to choose between Korean summer and Korean Winter, what would you choose? Which do you dislike the least? |

If you mean "KOREAN" summer or winter, winter, hands down.
Of course, if you mean Miami summer or winter, winter, at a balmy 20-25 degrees wins over the torturous summer of 38+ 100% humidity. I'll take shorts in the winter, no sweat.
Now if you are speaking of Seattle, I'll take summer, when there is one. |

Are you people insane?
Winter? Over summer?
There's no sun happening in winter, vitamin K is depleted, SAD gloom sets in, it's cold - all the time, you slip on iced over side walks, you crash your car by going just a little to fast and car skate into guard rails. You have to wear gloves outside and take them every time you need to use keys, phones, hell your fingers! You have to spend weekends indoors hibernating watching TV fer god's sake! You get fat. You get depressed. You despair that the sun is never going to come out behind clouds again.
Winter f*cking sucks!
Except when you get to pelt problem students with snow balls- then it's all good. |

I didn't find winter gloomy at all. I'd say 80% of the time it was clear blue skies and sunshine. I agree ice and snow is a total pain in the arse, but is there a felicity in the world superior to a crisp, sunny winter's day?
I completely take folks' point about the girls in summer. Anyone noticed how suddenly every woman in Seoul is gorgeous as soon as it gets warm? No coincidence. Summer breeds fit ladies. They just magically come out of the woodwork, like spiders in mild, damp October. |

Two Koreans readily agreed with me yesterday--no, said it before I even could--that Korea has actually two seasons and not four.
I like summer better. Fenagling with gloves and multiple layers, walking around shivering with my buddies downstairs trying to crawl inside me to get warm just sucks. I prefer to sweat. Which I do a lot of in the summer eww. |

Winter here is a joke. Summer is a bit of a chore. Having spent the last couple winters before here in Ottawa..........the Daegu winters barely register as late fall in my books. Beautiful clear skies............gloves? ......babies. Only thing that bugs me about winter is the lack of humidity....so damn dry |

summer sucks - at least in the winter you don't sweat and can put on extra clothes if it's really cold. In the summer you can't walk around naked - and even if you did it would still be too damn hot. |
