Getting to this address from Itaewon. More exactly, I need to go to the Romanian Embassy in Seoul on Wednesday and for the life of me I could not find directions to the location, only an address.
Address: Yongsan-Ku, Hannam-Dong 1-42, UN Village Seoul 140-210
That is the place I need to get to, and probably taking a cab would be easy, but I don't know any Korean and I'd take the subway.
Help would be greatly appreciated

Go to Hangangjin Station (one past Itaewon) and go out exit 2. Go straight for 100 meters until you come to a huge intersection and you'll see a pedestrian footbridge. Go up the steps and onto the footbridge and stop in the middle. Look down the hill towards the river, and off a little bit to the left (beyond the Volvo building) you'll see six or eight flags for various embassies and consular offices. That's the UN Village. I should think you'd see the Romanian flag flying there. If not, at least you'll be in the right neighborhood. As you walk down the hill along the sidewalk there are lots of little signs in English directing people up the small alleys to the various embassies and consulates.
Good hunting. |

Korea has no addressing system. Streets have no names, and that building number is not in sequence (or maybe it is).
Even Koreans don't know how to go anywhere. That's why they either know from their car navigator or because they've been there before.
There addressing system is just sections of town, so if you read an address, it starts off with the zip code (XXX-XXX) format, then the province, then some -gun, then some -eup, then maybe a -ri.
But they are not cities, villages, towns, down to streets.
The last bit of information, the most specific, could be an intersection, a block, or just an area. But definitely not a street! |
