I don't know if anyone's already posted on this or not but it seems that the official Gyeonggi site has an FAQ that isn't really an FAQ but rather a list of unanwsered complaints against the program by the teachers including such statements as:
"Some co-teachers have poor English or no confidence or dont want to be bothered with a native speaker."
and
"one of the TTGs was quite sick and when she called to say that she could not come to school, they insisted she come, and sent her to the nurses office, where she spent the day lying on a cot, with her students sticking their heads in to watch her. At the end of the day, she was taken to a doctor, who told her it was just stress from culture shock. She would have been better off at home in bed to recover. In another case, a teacher called in sick and was told that there is only one person she can call and talk to, and that person does not speak English."
Why would they do that? An error or just plain honest?

Very interesting reading!
I like this quote as a response to a question regarding discipline.
"TTGs are not accustomed to using corporal punishment. Their inexperience and lack of familiarity with Korean culture make it hard for them to know how to enforce discipline." |

Sounds like they're saying, "Yeah, we know about it, but we won't do anything."
Well, do they do anything about it? |

The answers are there, though most are comically pathetic "this should happen..." You just have to click on the questions.

Ah yes you're right - It's that intuitive user interface that gets me every time. |

That's a great link - they make it pretty clear that the schools have a lot of autonomy when it comes to things like being around during vacation time.
I smell another 'I got so tarred by the man' ex-gepik participant whine session being stirred up.
I'll only offer that if new posters want a view of the current state of the program they can pm me. |
