I know, stupid NOOB question, oh well...
I have an interview for med school (jokes anyone?) in Daegu on Sunday at 12 noon, but I have NO idea how to get there. I can't afford a hotel, and really wouldn't want one, so what I need to know is:
Does the KTX run there? I looked it up, and it says yes, but I found no available fares.
Where is the station?
Can I make reservations without joining? Yes, its 2,000 won, but if I won't be making a habit of this.
Anything else I should know.
Thank you. |

| Im not sure about reservations. Go to seoul station, you'll be able to buy a ktx ticket to Dongdaegu. Thats the station that it goes to, not Daegu station. You can get the subway from Dongdaegu to the city centre, its about 5 stops to the main banwaldong stop. Where is your interview? |

Maybe the easiest thing for you to do is go to Seoul Station (its a subway stop) tomorrow and buy your ticket for Sunday morning. They can tell you the schedule and the cost. They can also tell you how long the trip will take and the schedule for your return trip.
If money is a factor, you can also take a bus. It's cheaper. |

The easiest way to get to Daegu from Seoul is if you go to Seoul Station and get a ticket there (ask for at the 'immediate departures' window, but give yourself a lot of time). The cost is approximately 38,000 won each way. It takes about 2 hours.
When you arrive, figure out exactly where your med school is at in Daegu (For example, is it Kyungpook National Univ. Med School? If it is, it has its own subway station). From Dongdaegu station, follow the signs to the subway station and get of at the stop closest to where you need to go.
You can also use the bus. Most bus express bus terminals in Seoul (such as Express Bus Terminal on subway Line 3)and the surrounding areas offer service to Daegu and East Daegu (Seodaegu). In any case, the buses stop at both bus stations, always at East Daegu first and then the main Daegu bus terminal, which is across the street from Dongdaegu bus terminal. This one will cost you about 22,000 won, the ride is very comfortable, but figure on getting there in 3-4 hours. |

as i searched korail website there doesn't seem to be any available tickets on 28th (there are some at night)
on sat, there are only night trains
for saemaulho(slower than ktx)
it 29,100 won for one- way and it takes 3 hrs and 20mins
for mugunghwaho, takes 3hrs and 40 mins, costs 19,800won
go to seoul station and ask them if they have any tickets for sale
or try bus! it takes 3 hrs and 40mins and costs 23,800 at most
check this web or visit express bus terminal at line 3

| I would suggest taking the train (either KTX or regular). If the bus hits traffic, you're screwed. Arriving on time for a med school interview is pretty important. I would go to Seoul Statio nASAP and get a ticket. Since its high travel season, some of the tickets may be sold out. |

| Thanks all, I went to seoul stn. and got my ticket yesterday. For those interested, the interview is here at BMC-Korea, but it is an interview for med school in Europe. |

Glad to see you got situated.
For anyone else reading that plans to travel from Seoul Station, I recommend bypassing the usual ticket booths and go to the Tourist Information Centre in the middle of the station. Not only do they speak English, but you can buy tickets there. Usually there is no line-up but at most, no more than 1-2 people in line, as opposed to the hordes that often accumulate at the regular lines. |

Seoul-> Dong Daegu KTX
Get on the subway and look at the sign. It'll be easy to notice. The announcements are also in English.
No probs. |
