|
|
I just got an offer from a speedtalking recruiter offering me a public school position in the Dongrae Busan. Apparently with my 1.5 years of experience the best this city has to offer me is 2.0 million and 14 days of vacation in a year.
When I told her I knew otherwise she told me I didn't know.
Soooo here I am asking. Do I know?
I thought public school positions, even in Busan, usually start with a higher pay than a hagwon and offer at least 2 weeks vacation during winter and summer break?
((My recent but brief stint in the public school system was sponsored by an outside company and supervised by the local education board. So I got more money than my EPIK sponsored coworker. Still I could have sworn that she made 2.3 and that was with only a TESL certificate and it is her first job.))
Who's right me or the speedtalker? |

hmmm....far as I know, busan is like everywhere else:
base salary of 1.9
1) +2 years experience in korea 2.1
2) +B.Ed or certain EFL certificates 2.3 (and 1) )
3) +3 years in EPIK 2.5
And as for the vacation issue. You need only read these boards two months before vacation starts to hear how enjoyable THAT discussion is... |

Hmmm.... I just got an offer from another school in Masan. Not too far away. The pay situation was/is similar to the speedtalker's quote but the vacation is double.
As I said the recruiter told me 14 days total, not 14 days in each of the breaks. |

| If you are in EPIK, I don't really think its negotiable. I work at a public school, but got a much better deal than I would have with EPIK. Keep your eyes open for better stuff. Check pusanweb.com's classifieds. I see a fair amount of nonEPIK public school jobs here. |
