Packing up the old car tomorrow, and taking a spontaneous one day trip out of Seoul. Wherever I end up, I will stay in a hotel and come back the next day. I would like to head south, since that's the part of the country I've seen the least. Any recommendations on where I should head? I would like somewhere with very clean air. I guess kind of a small, relaxing town, but big enough to have decent hotels. Thanks |

It's not south, but how about Gangneung on the east coast? |

That's the right idea, but have already been that way, wanted to try a new place. Been pretty much everywhere in Korea except for the Daejeon direction, Kwangju, and everything below that. Jeolla, etc. Thanks, any more ideas? |

The park and moutain top near the Daejeon zoo is is nice for a relaxing afternoon. The zoo itself isn't that great, but it is cheap and you can pet some of the tame animals.
I've been wanting to check out some of the islands on the West Coast, but haven't made it there yet. |

Byungsan Bando National Park in Cheolla-do was good.
Stopped off at a temple and checked out some dolmens on the way.
Decent hotels,lots of raw fish,pleasant scenery,fresh air...etc etc |

Thanks guys, looks like I'm just gonna head down expressway 15, down the west coast, and see what happens. Good suggestions there. |

Grab the Lonely Planet Korea or the Moon Handbook Korea if you don't already have it. |

Thanks, I just grabbed a road map atlas at Kyobo bookstore yesterday. I'm gonna head down intertate 15, which runs down the west coast, and just stop at any place that looks interesting. Might even go all the way!! |
