I was thinking about downloading the free version.
I heard (a few years ago) that it was the best place on the internet to infect your computer with viruses, spyware, malware, just about anything.

Opinions anybody?

I used Kazaa for a couple of days and my computer was down for a month.
Wicked process getting rid of all the spy-ware, etc.
Kazaa='netSatan.

kazaa = adware + spyware + government spyware + bugs = no fun for you! But that's just my opinion (not proven fact).

KazaaLite was okay about 2-3 years ago, but not anymore...

If you want to download, just learn how to use torrents..

For a peer to peer media download program, I use soulseek. No spyware. But mostly just use bit.torrent. Download an artist's complete discology over night.

I use bitlord. Actually, a grade twelve Comparative CIvilizations student introduced me to it - he warned me I might not be ready for the XXX chat button that comes with it. He was right.

But I was ready to download entire albums in less than 15 minutes...

Point is - go check out the thread on torrents on this forum and choose one.
Peer to peer is the way to go. Azureus, Bitlord....there are soooo many

Don't confuse peer to peer with bit.torrent (of which bitlord is a client). Peer to peer means one person is sending you one file. A torrent means many people are sending you parts of the same file. Peer to peer means you're getting the file at a single uploaders upstream rate (slower). A torrent means you're getting their part of the file at their upstream rate but you're getting as many parts, theoretically, as your downstream can handle. So it's additive.

Wham!

Suddenly calling it a torrent makes sense...

If you must use such a service, remember that Kazaa had their doors kicked in by the cops. Best to avoid them

Use E-mule. Same network, no cops.

I don't know if I agree with this. A peer to ppeer connection can have simultaneous downloads from different peers on the same file! Peer-to-peer is simply a different model than the old client-sserver dichotomy where one computer asks for a service and the other computer performs the service -- a servent-master type pairin. Peer-to-peer simply flattens the hierarchy, makes it horizontal rather than vertical.

I don't know many people still using P2P. Bittorrent has almost completely taken over.

Download uTorrent and get going. Big public sites like Torrentspy and btjunkie are a good starter. Then, hopefully, you can plead other people for invites to a private tracker. That's when the bittorrent thing really makes sense. Full DVD movies can be dowloaded in a few hours. Got a DVD writer in your computer? Hey presto!! Laughing

Eamo, nothing to do with bit torrents. Just wanted to share this with you.

Believe it or not, I met a girl who was a member of their Japanese fanclub. I think I'd have a minor stroke if I ever met a Korean who'd even heard of them.
