Not sure if there is a link to this discussion already, if so, please direct me.
My E-2 visa is up at the end of Feb. I'm not quite ready to leave yet and I'm thinking about taking on another job. I want a little more time to search around and perhaps do a bit of traveling here and there.
I'm a US citizen so I can apply for a three month tourist visa. Where should I go on my visa run (I was thinking Osaka or Shanghai--I have about a week's time off to work with) and should I stop by immigration here first to explain my situation and get paperwork? Do I need anything other than my passport? Is this going to be difficult?
Thanks for your help. |

Easy to do... simply drop into any Korean consulate abroad and fill in the application, stick on a passport type photo and pay the fee. Overnight service in most (but not all) places.
If you plan to go to Shanghai you will need a Chinese entry visa first.
Perhaps HongKong (2-4 days), Osaka, Fukuoka, Manila (can take up to 4 days), and Bangkok can all be fun places to spend some time while you get one. All of these are visa free entry for US citizens.
Alternatively you can just leave and return and get your 30 day visa waiver stamp with no questions asked. |
