Any Aussies (or Aussies-for-a-day) interested in celebrating Australia Day this Friday night (26/01 - 01/26)?

I was going to celebrate with a few quiet ones (my local Homeplus has VB, Coopers Extra Stout and XXXX), but I'm willing to travel up to Seoul to celebrate with my fellow countrymen (and anyone else looking to have some fun in good company).

I've only been here a few months and I'm the only Aussie in my Dong, so it'd be nice to knock back a few cold ones, talk about the cricket, what Alf is up to on Home & Away, and spell words like 'color' with a 'u' in it.

Not only that, but it'd be a nice way to meet new people. Some of my North American friends would like the full Australia Day experience, complete with meat pie and sauce, beer, and singing AC/DC or Chisel songs at the top of your lungs after you've had too many.

Any ideas? The more the merrier.

Cold ones = beer

So tell me guys, how'd it go? I'm an Aussie looking to travel to Seoul soon. Any Aussie related advice you can give me? I had a beef and Guiness pie today and was wondering how difficult it will be to make my own meat pies once there (teaching EFl hopefully). Give us a few anecdotes, did you do all the traditional Aussie things like singing Khe Sanh, sledge a few poms and forget the second verse to the national anthem? By the by is there a big Aussie community in ROK, do they meet up often? Maybe for the real Aus day. How about ANZAC day?

Cheers

Umm...it hasn't happened yet!

Not sure about making your own pies...but you can definately buy meat pies at the new Aussie shop in Itaewon...there isn't a *massive* Aussie community here..check out ANZA website (not sure of exact addy sorry, you might have to google it)...they do regular events for us Aussies & Kiwis here in Seoul.

www.anzakorea.com

The canceled the Australia Day/Waitangi Day party for this year Crying or Very sad

The best ANZA events are the ball and the mid-summer party. They used to have the odd aussie night at some bars around itaewon but haven't seen many of late.

The Australia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (www.anzcck.org) throws a big party for the NFL final. I won a weekend test drive of Mercedes Benz at the last one so I recommend it.
