your contract says you need to stay at least 6 months or you have to reimburse the school for your flight. If you pull a midnight run, leaving before 6 months, can they make you pay? law suit or something? or once you leave you're clear. i don't want these ppl harrassing me 24/7 |

They can't do anything to you once you leave the country. If you choose to come back then you might have problems getting a visa. |

If you are leaving the country, how are they going to harrass you? If you plan on staying here and getting another job then you will need a release letter from your employer. In order to get that, I'm sure they will want that ticket money back. |

I am not sure but you might want to search for a previous thread where a news story was posted about flight making an unscheduled landing in Manila to deal with just such a situation. Seems the guy had to work out an arrangement with the Korean Consulate before he could catch another flight. |

Ok the last post was a joke.
The serious post was more like give notice as stated in your contract, and pay back the flight just like you agreed to in the contract.or in other words grow up and act like an adult.
But that seemed a little much for me to state to a complete stranger. |

Once you're out of the country, no one can touch you.
If the problem is you (ie: you've found yourself unable to cope with the expat teacher lifestyle) then you should do the honourable thing and give notice.
If the problem is the hagwon (illegal work situations, late/no pay etc) then don't bother giving notice, f**k 'em. If your boss is crooked then he/she will likely cheat you out of your final pay anyway. |

Leaving aside the consequences of your planned run for your students and co-workers, they (the school) cannot do anything once you are outside of Korea.
This runner thing will on ly become a problem for you if you try to comeback. |
