I will have more than 2 months free between my present job and my next job (out of Korea) and I am trying to come up with some ideas about what to do with my time.......I do not want to go home..........any ideas ?

What would you do if you had a couple of months to kill? I also do not want to blow all my savings.......

I'd do a combination of Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Though you could really kill 2 months in Laos for a damn good price. Might get boring alone though.

If you're travelling alone, Beijing is a fun, cheap city with a growing music scene and a lot of cool people to meet.

I agree. Depends on your interest.

One cheap place to lay low that I've always enjoyed is Puri, India. It's in Orissa state, and about a 6-hour train ride from Calcutta. It's a Hindu holy town, which means that ganja is legal -- you can buy it in government shops. Comes wrapped in newspapers.

I spent a three weeks there playing chess in cafes, riding around on motorbikes, eating fresh-caught tuna steaks for dinner, and sitting around on the beach (the beach has got a deadly undercurrent, though, so I wouldn't go in more than knee deep). Must've spent $200 in total.

Personally, I'm lazy, so I don't lugging my gear from place to place. Much rather find a cool spot to tuck into for a while. Depends on your interest...

There are fun times to be had in Laos and Cambodia. If you like lounging around, watching beautiful sunset, eating mushroom pizza Very Happy and drinking cheap beer, laos could be just the ticket.

If you want some LBFMs, Thailand, Cambodia and, apparently, the Philipines will see to your needs Wink

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Embarassed
There's something disturbing about that little acronym. It's also about as politically correct as recommending that someone zip down to Kenya for some BBFMs.

I'll second that, I spend months in Puri back in the 90s. Interesting shore temples at Konarak too and if you really want to go wild there are the Orissan Hill Tribes in the hinterland.

Aside from that, I would also recommend Indonesia. Stay a while in a Dayak longhouse in Kalimantan, lie on a beach in Manado, Sulawesi and scope out some of the hottest chicks this side of Brazil, Bus it through Sumatra and see Lake Toba, orangutans and Nias. City hop through Java and hang with students in places like Bandung, Jogja and Salatiga or take in Bali and Lombok, all for about 25 bucks a day if you learn some local habits.

India. India, India, India. Beaches? Yes. Deserts? Yes. Temples? Yes. Safaris? Yes. Jungle? Yes. Mountains? Yes. Amazing food? Yes. Seriously, it has more variety for the money than anywhere on the planet, and English gets you by just fine, what more do you want? Go have fun.

Oh yes. The guys on here never cease to amaze me how disgusting they are. And they trash Korean men. HA! The Korean guys I know would not go on public websites and talk trash like this. They also wouldn't go on some public forum and slam a race of women as being fat, ugly, and disgusting. Hey white men, get some class and manners...FAST!!!

Nam is good. Plenty of different types of scenery and definately a cheap place to hang out. I think I spent maybe 400 in my month long stay there.

Maybe maddog is not a SWFM but a FBFM, LKFM or HHFM (skinny/white, fat/black, little/Korean, huge/Hawaiian, respectively.)
